Being the body: the body-as-subject as presence (and as inscendental art object)
In these ceramic sculptures, the main focus is on subtle tensions within the body, felt and brought out from within.
Anatomical correctness is subservient to the expression of the interoceptive (all the senses informing us about the internal state of the body) and the sense of the sensual whole.
Certain body parts can have extra weight and volume, adding to the overall presence of the figure and to the viewer’s sensing of the figure’s internally sensed tensions & sensibilities.
This description may sound circular and tangled up, but entanglement is exactly what this is about…!

Dans ces Ĺ“uvres, l’accent est mis sur les tensions subtiles du corps, ressenties et extĂ©riorisĂ©es de l’intĂ©rieur.
La justesse anatomique est subordonnĂ©e Ă l’expression de l’intĂ©roceptif (l’ensemble des sens nous informant de l’Ă©tat interne du corps) et Ă la perception de la totalitĂ© sensorielle.
Certaines parties du corps peuvent avoir un poids et un volume supplémentaires, renforçant la présence globale de la figure et permettant au spectateur de percevoir ses tensions et sensibilités intérieures.
Cette description peut paraĂ®tre circulaire et confuse, mais c’est prĂ©cisĂ©ment de l’enchevĂŞtrement dont il est question ici… !
Het lichaam *zijn*: lichaam-als-subject als aanwezigheid (en als inscendent kunstobject)
In deze werken ligt de nadruk op subtiele spanningen in het lichaam, die van binnenuit worden gevoeld en naar boven gebracht.
Anatomische correctheid is ondergeschikt aan de expressie van het interoceptieve (alle zintuigen die ons informeren over de innerlijke toestand van het lichaam) en het gevoel van het sensuele geheel.
Bepaalde lichaamsdelen kunnen extra gewicht en volume hebben, wat bijdraagt aan de algehele aanwezigheid van de figuur en aan de waarneming van de innerlijk gevoelde spanningen en gevoeligheden van de kijker.
Deze beschrijving klinkt misschien circulair en verwarrend, maar verstrengeling is precies waar het hier om draait…!
